You have just rented a bicycle and are ready to cycle around. Vélo Bleu reminds you of a few security rules :

Before you start make sure you can go on the road.

You have to overtake or avoid an obstacle :

• Make sure you can move towards the middle of the road without being in danger
• Tell with your hand if you change direction to overtake the vehicule or to avoid the obstacle
• If you decide to overtake cars (for instance) which are already parked, make sure you know whether or not there is someone inside: make sure there is a larger distance if the car is occupied, someone could open the door.

You cycle one behind the other (in the line):

Don’t forget to keep a distance long enough to be able to react on time in case somebody breaks or in case you have to avoid the cyclist which is in front of you.

You decide to overtake a line of car :

You have the right to overtake a line of car by the right hand side but :

• Make sure the drivers can see you
• Do not overtake by the right the cars which have the intention to turn right
• Stay behind and not next to a lorry

You decide to turn :

• Before changing direction show your intention with a sign of your hand
• Make sure the vehicules have approved your intention
